Funding collaboration
Currently, Sustainability Options' endeavour to achieve the 20 Degrees vision is supported by a group of funders: TECT, BayTrust, Western Bay of Plenty District Council, the Rotorua Trust, Trust Horizon, BOP District Health Board, Toi Te Ora Public Health, along with collaborative partnerships with the Rotorua Lakes Council, EECA Warmer Kiwi Homes, MBIE energy education in community programme.
Total funding along with collaborative partnerships is in excess of $1.5 million per annum.
This level of funding support is of significant impact on the healthy housing aspirations of the Bay of Plenty community, but with an estimated 29,000 homes needing care and attention and an objective to enable every home to attain 20 degrees on a cold winter's night, the need will take more funding and years of commitment to address.
Our most vulnerable families are living in housing conditions that can be as stark as corrugated walls, wooden windows, an open fire, with no power, limited tank water, and limited sewage.
The purpose of coming together as a group of funders is to enable greater efficiency in utilizing our funds and in attracting additional funds.
